There is a very popular saying about white tea and its value of aging, “one year – it is tea; three years – it is medicine; seven years – it becomes a treasure.” Particularly, Fuding white tea trees grow in the world’s geological park Taimu Mountain and its surrounding areas, nourished by sun and rain year after year since ancient time. After being picked in spring and autumn, tea leaves go through processes of withering and drying with the diligent care of tea craftmanship before people can use for brewing and drinking.
Research conducted on tea-drinking has identified many associated health benefits due to the rich nutrients present in tea that support the immune system. When the body receives sufficient rest and nutrients, such as protein, vitamins, minerals, fats, and so on, this enhances the body’s ability to self-repair, via cell regeneration, in a way that drugs cannot.
Did you know? White tea is not only for drinking – it is used in cosmetics.
White tea products include facial cleansers, toners, make-up removers, and facial masks. There are also white tea skin whitening creams, sunscreens, shampoos, soaps, toothpaste and so on. All of these applications utilize the beneficial effects of white tea, enabling its helpful components to be absorbed directly by the skin — a safe, wholistic and less irritating ingredient. Here are some simple, economical and applicable white tea skin care treatments to do at home. For best results, use them regularly, and on an ongoing basis over a period of time.
After washing your face at night, make a cup of white tea, and then apply the tea liquid to your face, pat your face gently, and then wash it with clean water. Alternatively, dip a cotton face cloth into the tea liquid and then wash it with clean water. Many people find that facial discolorations (e.g., age spots, freckles, etc.) will fade or disappear when white tea is directly applied to the skin.
Mix 1 spoonful of flour and 1 egg yolk well and then add 1 spoonful of white tea powder. Apply it evenly on your clean face and wash your face after 20 minutes. Another way to make a facial mask is to mix together 1 spoonful of sweetened white tea liquid and 1 spoonful of flour. Apply to the face and the wash your face after 15-20 minutes. These facial masks can help to reduce or eliminate acne and help to correct greasy skin.
For the Eyes:
Put a small cup of white tea into the refrigerator and let it cool for about 15 minutes. Using a small piece of cotton pad, apply the tea to the eyelids. This can help to diminish dark circles under the eyes. Also, after brewing white tea, remove the tea leaves, squeeze them dry and place them into a gauze tea bag. Close your eyes and put the tea bag on your eyes for 10-15 minutes each. This can relieve eye fatigue, reduce eye inflammation and diminish dark circles under the eyes.
